KUKULCAN HEALTH CARE PROGRAMSIt is becoming increasingly important for health care professionals to speak Spanish and understand Latino culture when working with Hispanic patients. Kukulcan offers health care students and professionals an intensive two-week program that covers Spanish grammar, medical terminology, fluency in conversation, and cultural awareness. OUR HEALTH CARE PROGRAMS INCLUDEGrammar Classes Grammar classes cover all aspects of Spanish grammar from basic to advanced. There are five different Spanish levels in two-week modules. Students will be placed according to their ability. Customized Vocabulary Classes Vocabulary classes focus on specific medical terminology and phrases used within the health care profession. Practical Conversation Classes Afternoon conversation classes are designed to enhance conversation skills between patients, doctors, nurses and other health care professionals. Students participate in role-play and real-life scenarios to give context to conversations. Traditional Medicine Workshops Lectures and workshops from local health care professionals specializing in traditional medicine. Students learn the importance of Mexican customs, family traditions, herbal remedies, spiritual healing, and the cultural significance of alternative medicine for Hispanic patients. Guided Tours Visits to local hospitals, shelter homes, and orphanages, help increase awareness of cultural differences between health care institutions in the USA and Mexico. *Includes short breaks during scheduled classes. Guided tours run once per week after school.
Academic Recognition Kukulcan is certified as a language center by the Mexican Ministry of Education (SEP incorporation 17PET0062X). Many of our faculty are oral examiners for CELA exams (Certificado de Español como Lengua Adicional) by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). This continuing nursing education activity is approved by the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing center's Commission on Accreditation. Continuing education units or credits can be obtained for public health practitioners and nurses through the California Public Health Association - North (CPHAN). College Credits, CEUs and CPDUs Kukulcan has made arrangements that allow full transfer of education credits to most USA universities. PRICING The two week * group healthcare program includes: all tuition (30 hours per week), weekday cultural classes and excursions, books, family home-stay in a double room, three meals per day, on campus insurance, and transportation to/from school. Total cost $1,100** *Students can stay additional weeks if preferred, please contact us for pricing. **Add $100 for single room.
