About us

Welcome to the Kukulcan Educational Spanish Community in Cuernavaca, Mexico, 1.5 hours south of Mexico City, 3 hours north of Acapulco. We are an educational community, which means we fully integrate our faculty, our host family network, and our professional contacts into our immersion programs. Everyone plays an important role in teaching students Spanish and participating in events which reflect the culture of Mexico so that it becomes a real-life experience.

Kukulcan is the Mayan name for "Quetzacóatl", the "feathered serpent" god who taught peace and dignity to his human subjects. Our modern facilities feature spacious indoor and outdoor classrooms, beautiful gardens, a cafeteria, two swimming pools, a business lounge, a reading room, and a cooking class. Wireless internet is also available so be sure to bring your laptop. The Spanish school is a 10-minute walk from downtown Cuernavaca, allowing easy access to local cultural and recreational sites.

Kukulcan"s motto, "It is good to be bilingual, but better to be bicultural!" summarizes our conviction that Spanish is best taught in the cultural and historical context in which the language is spoken. Workshops on local arts and crafts, field trips to museums and archaeological sites in Cuernavaca and central Mexico, and home-stays with Mexican families enhance students´classroom work and immerse them in the language.
